HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOMAN

Unapologetic. Unforgettable. Uncompromising. Undefined. One word to describe these declarations: Madonna Louise Ciccione.

She's a chameleon of time, melody, and style. I've loved her afar all of my life, just never knew her until the groundbreaking Ray of Light era. The earth goddess had finally come full circle in life, music, and influence.

To understand Madonna is no climb without determination, hell do we even want to? To get to the core of Madonna is to do what she has not and that's to take a trip back to the beginning. We all know the story of her sexual, intelligent parade to the forefront of pop culture, music, and media. The thing about Madonna is that she did it her way, did anyone really expect it to not?

The landmark first album rightfully titled Madonna opened the gates to the world and they would never be closed again. She came with a vengeance to declare her throne. August 16, 1958 Madonna came into the world and sadness would soon follow. Her mother who she shared namesake died of breast cancer in 1963, when looking back it's hard to not to deem the catalyst for her quest in music with the death of her mother and maybe a reason for her continued rebirth throughout her career. She's described her childhood as lonely, and not one she cares to revisit.

Through the years she excelled in school and in 1976 is awarded a dance scholarship to the University of Michigan. She's stays just 2 years and soon has bigger dreams that cannot be contained within the walls of academic structure. New York is calling and she drops out with dreams of becoming a professional dancer, arriving she soon discovers the dog eat world of the dance life and would regularly get cut not because of talent but because she stood out, she later chooses her background dancers with the same regard.

Ladies and Gentleman a star is soon to be born. As an evolutionary of arts she finds her calling someway somehow in music. She joins the Breakfast Club and takes the role of drummer, she fills in at times as a singer and soon the power struggle begins. The band is satisfied with their current but by this time Madonna has felt the surge of front seat and wants permanent guard as lead singer. The band is unrelentful and soon she hits the road to the journey charted but unknowing. She joins the band Emmy but that shortly dissolves.

Never losing her work ethic or spirit she soldiers on and makes demos out her apartment in NY and stomps the club circuit, her records make their way into the right hands and soon people are taking notice of Ciccione. Her infamous demo being played at the hospital bed of Sire records President Seymour Stein is the making of a legend in her own time.

Everybody is released in 82' and has a following in the gay dance scene. The label releases Madonna, the self-titled album and history is in the making.

Stay tuned for the Virgin era.
